Update from
Atoka, Tennessee for July 15, 2005

Greetings from Atoka, Tennessee!

Today was our final work day and wow did a lot of work get done!

All the exterior painting was completed today, just in time for rain to start at about 6:30. It was amazing, all of Tipton County got rain today, except us at church.

The kitchen was tiled today and utilities were hooked up, they weren’t too easy to attach. We have constantly been amazed at the concrete in Atoka Church; it burns up screwdriver bits like nothing anyone has ever seen before.

Finally touches were made to the fellowship hall. The doors and trim were installed on the closets. Formica, trim and a curtain were put on a serving table, really improving the looks of it.

The sanctuary was put into place. All the pews were trimmed and put into their places (we hope). The sound system was finished being installed. We even got to work with some music today! All the pews and furniture were given a loving coat of oil to condition the wood. The front foyer was given a makeover with a newly tiled floor and a company came and installed a new glass door, really brightened up the place.

The attic room was given a few additions today; closets and carpet. The two Matts were given a crash course in how to put closets together. The stairs leading up to that closet were installed with a carpeted runner.

Tonight after another great meal provided by the people of Atoka, we had a Praise and Thanksgiving Service were everyone, including Building Stones and the Atoka Presbyterian Church family were given a chance to speak. It was a wonderful service. Afterwards we retired to the Walkers for more fireworks and time to sit and relax.

It has been a great week. Much has been accomplished. While so much was done, some remains. (For some silly reason folks here are interested in having at least one running toilet.) Since some work remains, Bruno Brouwer will be staying on for a few days to finish up some of the remaining projects, then hand it over to let people from the church do final touches.

Please pray for safety on the road as much of us leave Atoka tomorrow. Some are heading home, others extending there trip with a few days rest. Please also pray for the people of Atoka. They are very excited and have been jump started into getting these projects completed.
