Update from
Atoka, Tennessee for
July 14, 2005
Greetings from hot and muggy Atoka, Tennessee!
Another long day of hard work, and yet, it so fulfilling to see projects
being finished and things beginning to come together.
It was a very hot and muggy day for painters and anyone outside today. There
is only so much time that you can deal with the oppressive heat. We also
angered a few bees and wasps… they retaliated for being disturbed. Much
progress was made today in the exterior painting. The outside of church is
really shaping up.
Quite a crew continued to work inside. The kitchen is really taking shape;
it’s ready for floor tiling and a new sink tomorrow. All the cabinets are
hung and the counter tops have been installed. The tiling is done in the
bathrooms downstairs. The nurseries have also been recarpeted and spruced
up. Looking great!
The closets in the fellowship hall/basement were finished off today with
doors and faux painting. Only a few more pieces of trim and those will be
complete.
Pastor Ken has moved completely into his office. While he may not know where
everything is… it looks great and lived in.
The pew upholstering was completed today, only final trimming yet and
putting the pews in place tomorrow. They are nice and cushy, we can’t sit
too long, we’ll likely try to take a nap.
The new sound system was starting to be installed today. It should be
completed tomorrow. (They will need a new sound system after getting these
pews. Can’t have folks falling asleep during the sermon!)
The attic continues to be drywalled. It’s extremely hot up there and kudos
to Leonard from Atoka who has put in so much time and effort in that heat!
Tonight some of the Building Stones when to a Memphis Redbirds baseball game
while others decided to go out to eat or just relax.
It was a long, but good day. One more full day of work tomorrow.
Please continue to pray for safety and for us to accomplish as much as we
are able. |
