Update from
Atoka, Tennessee for July 13, 2005

Another great day in Atoka, Tennessee! Today was the middle of our work week and we can already see the results of the hard work. Rooms are being completed, projects finished, and outdoor painting has finally begun, backs are sore and legs are aching.

There was quite a team outside working today! Over 90 plants were planted and plenty of muscle needed to lay the mulch around the new plants. Paint began today on the exterior of the building. Many brave people were up on scaffolding painting in the hot sun. Plenty of people down on the ground level painting as well. Lots of hot and hard work being done outside. Thank goodness for a cool sanctuary for them to come in and rest.

The drywall in the attic classroom has been completed. It's a hot room to be in, VERY hot.

Pastor Ken's office was completed today, at least our part. The ceiling fan put up, the new electric outlets installed, new custom made (by the Stitchers) draperies, custom made cabinets and bookcases installed, and Pastor Ken rolled in on his office chair. Now it's his part to fill it up. He has a new ceiling in there, which is very porous for prayers to pass through. :)

The other classroom was furnished with new lights and ceiling fan.

The sanctuary was 'Upholstery Central' today. Many people learned how to upholster church pew today. (And we are thankful that Calvin Church's pews are already cushioned!) Half of the pews were padded and the rest should be finished tomorrow.

The fellowship hall tile was finished today and also the window treatments installed. The wall artwork was completed and lighting hung. It's amazing how bright it is just by adding new fixtures. It's quite a different place than when we arrived on Saturday. The built in closets were framed out and will be worked on tomorrow as well.

The kitchen is really taking shape. The ceiling was stenciled and the curtains hung. The cabinets were painstakingly installed. A small problem with a cabinet too large for the hallway, so a little surgery was necessary.

The nurseries were prepped for carpet that will be installed tomorrow. All the toys and furniture were washed. Tiling was also completed down the hallway.

More prayers are requested for weather and for energy to continue working.
