Update from
Napa, California for
August 4, 2004
Today was another day for
projects at Camp Building Stones at Valley Community Church.
Many projects around church are being worked on all at the same time.
The outside of VCC is beginning to take on a different appearance, one less
wild. Several of the VCC members have been diligently working on removing
bushes and preparing the ground for new plants that should arrive soon.
Many of the Building Stones worked outside today on various projects.
Several of the men worked on fixing up the fence and the gate around the
garbage area. The results are a gate that swings easier and a MUCH cleaner
looking fence. A few more Stones were around back today painting the shed.
Now the shed is all one color.
Work continued on the storage room with drywall mud and tape. That project
was sidelined for a while waiting for the mud to dry.
More bathroom work today. While the men’s bathroom is just about ready for a
new ceiling, the women’s bathroom needed some work! They walls were scraped
and everything given a basecoat of paint. Hard work for such a small area.
Painting also continued in the kitchen. The final two coats of paint were
put on the kitchen cabinets. Now all we are waiting for is doors and drawer
fronts and the kitchen will just about be done.
Work also continued in the sanctuary. The stage is being prepared and plenty
of thought is going into it. Cabinets have also been begun being built for
the back of the sanctuary.
The Noah’s Ark mural continues in the nursery. The animals are coming to
life. It’s amazing what a little paint can do.
The Sunday School room, aka the sewing room, was also a busy place today.
Ladies were sewing costumes and curtains for different places around church.
The room was also painted to have a castle type effect.
This evening ended with a pizza dinner at the Keys house. We had “Chicago
Pizza” in California. We also had some other specialty pizzas that tasted
great. It felt great to enjoy the outdoors and just sit after a hard days
work. |
